Opening New Laboratory and Visiting Center

Tuesday June 26 was a big day for TPRC. Together with more than 200 guests the opening of the new TPRC laboratory facilities was celebrated. The ThermoPlastic composites Research Center originates from a joint initiative of the founding members Boeing, TenCate, Fokker and the University of Twente and dates back to 2009. Since then the research center grew to currently 17 employees and in 2012 so far 6 further partners joined TPRC: Instron, DTC, Pinette Emidecau Industries, Coriolis Composites, Italmatic and AniForm.

Bill Gerry, program manager global research and development strategy at Boeing and chairman of the TPRC board complimented the accomplishments so far. After the speeches of Theo Rietkerk (delegate of the province of Overijssel), Ed Brinksma (rector magnificus of the University of Twente) and Loek de Vries (president and CEO of Royal TenCate), the opening ceremony started. In a symbolic act the entrance to the laboratory facility was opened and the first in-house produced laminate was handed over to the general manager of TPRC, Harald Heerink.

After the opening ceremony the guests were invited to visit the new laboratory facility on Palatijn 15 in Enschede and watch numerous demonstrations.
