Are you passionate about contributing to cutting-edge advancements in the newest composites technology and conducting research in collaboration with industry? If so, the TPRC could be the place for your professional growth.

We are looking for a highly motivated and organized person to join the TPRC as our Technical Director. The Technical Director will play a crucial role in coordinating and managing various aspects of our Research Roadmap. The position involves active participation in Consortium Board meetings, execution of the Technical Roadmap, and ensuring alignment with TPRC’s member needs.

Job description

As our Technical Director, you will have an active role in formulating TPRC’s Technical Roadmap together with our Scientific Director and our Technical Advisory Board, formed by the members of our Consortium, along with the execution of this Roadmap with our staff. You will assist in the definition of new research directions and projects, where you connect to the representatives of our members to ensure accurate alignment of the technology projects with the members’ needs. You report on the proceedings of the research projects to the Consortium Board of the TPRC.


In your managerial capacity, you will assess the performance of our technical staff. Additionally, your input will be crucial in the selection of new staff, taking into consideration organizational development perspectives.

You will represent the TPRC in national and international events, committees and communities as a technical expert with a focus on business development.

Your profile

  • PhD degree with 5 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science or an equivalent field;
  • Proven leadership in technical research projects;
  • More than 5 years of experience in the research field of thermoplastic composite materials;
  • Affinity with composites manufacturing processes and sound knowledge of numerical modelling techniques;
  • An extensive network within the industry as well as good knowledge of academic structures;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • A creative mind with innovative ideas to drive the exploration of fresh research directions;
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders and colleagues ;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, in both Dutch and in English.
