PhD title for Vanessa Marinosci
We welcome another brand new Doctor of Philosophy in our midst!
On October 6th, Vanessa Marinosci successfully defended her dissertation entitled: “Co-consolidated Titanium-Thermoplastic Composite Joints: A study on the mechanisms governing adhesion and durability”. Vanessa has performed her research at the TPRC in close cooperation with the Production Technology group of Prof. Remko Akkerman and the Surface Technology and Tribology group of Prof. Matthijn de Rooij, both from the University of Twente. We believe that Vanessa’s work provides a fundamental basis for manufacturing reliable metal-thermoplastic composite joints via a co-consolidation process. Vanessa travelled from Italy to Twente to research thermoplastic composites at the TPRC. This area of expertise appeals to Vanessa because her work can directly be applied to industry as well as it having an impact on society and the climate. Twente and the TPRC have not only offered the perfect place to increase her knowledge, but also a home. Read Vanessa’s full story
We are delighted that Vanessa will remain on board with the TPRC in her new role as Senior Research Associate!
