New Tier 1 member: Daher
Daher joined the ThermoPlastic composites Research Center (TPRC) as a Tier 1 member following the company’s acquisition of the Netherlands-based KVE Composites Group in 2019.
Daher has an extensive expertise in the development and manufacture of composite aerostructures for the aerospace sector – and is Europe’s leading supplier of thermoplastic components, providing more than 160,000 per year.
KVE’s patented industrial welding process for carbon-reinforced thermoplastic components adds an important capability for Daher’s position in the aerostructures market, as it responds for the aviation sector’s key competitiveness challenges, including weight reduction and increased productivity.
With KVE Composites Group now integrated into the Daher Group, they are fully ready to contribute to the thermoplastic composites value chain that TPRC has brought together, and to benefit from the knowledge of other consortium members. In particular, they appreciate the added value of working with PhD students, which gives access to academic studies and analyses of material behavior during the industrial processes.
The TPRC celebrated its 10th anniversary in October and has meanwhile grown into a consortium of 22 partners, of which 13 Tier 1 members. The TPRC focuses exclusively on thermoplastic composite materials and their processing, providing its members with fundamental insights and engineering tools that are required in the design and manufacturing process.
The agreement was recently signed by Harald Heerink (TPRC) and Dominique Bailly (Daher).
