About the Enschede Marathon
The first edition of the Enschede Marathon took place back in July 1947. This makes it the oldest marathon in the Netherlands and Western Europe. Nowadays about 11,000 runners register to run one of the distances. About 80,000 enthusiastic fans are along the course in the city center of Enschede every year to encourage the runners.
